Wow on click orlando website they state:

Motion Asks State To Pay Anthony’s Defense Costs

But when you click on the link it says Article Not Available

    http://www.clickorlando.com/index.html

    Wonder whats up with that??

  2. ss says:

attorneys for Casey Anthony are asking taxpayers to shoulder some of the defense costs in her murder trial

  3. stephanie says:

    Hi SS…Thank you

Don’t they have to declare Casey indigent and then don’t they have to show the financial records of what has gone where and to who from the beginning?

Hello Everyone…I am in and out

  4. ss says:

Hi Stephanie, for some reason the article was removed

  5. stephanie says:

Sorry the phone rang….I wonder why SS? I think many of us had a feeling it was coming down to this.

  6. stephanie says:

I wouldn’t think Baez is going to want any financial papers from the case to be scrutinized.

  7. Hadley says:

That’s so unfair! Do they do that with other felons? (Bet she’ll call Gloria Allred!!!)

  8. ss says:

    OK New article now

ORLANDO, Fla. — Defense attorneys for Casey Anthony have filed a motion requesting that the court declare her indigent and have the taxpayers shoulder some of the cost of her defense.

    http://www.clickorlando.com/news/22757022/detail.html

  9. nannab says:

In a high profile murder case here ..the D ran out of money so they assigned him a public defender.. Like Casey..all fingers pointed to him anyway.. LOL :ninja:

  10. ss says:

Anthony has already paid Baez and death penalty expert Andrea Lyon $111,954, but Baez said that is not enough to give Anthony the defense she needs, and taxpayers should make up the difference.

  11. stephanie says:

    Hi Hadley and Nanna

If Casey only paid 111 and so on…where did the other 90,000.00 go? Along with the 5K they kept getting in licensing fees? Oh wait we also have the Date Line 20K don’t we? We know they didn’t pay their mortgage with that.

  12. stephanie says:

They will help her like they do other defendants, but isn’t there a certain amount? Can the defense experts and such with being paid by the state continue to ask for their outrageous fees?

  13. Hadley says:

Stephanie, your daughters are adorable! H.

  14. stephanie says:

Thank you Hadley…they are the love of my life…at least most of the time, lol.

I don’t know if you had seen the other day, but I love your avatar…absolutely adorable.

  15. stephanie says:

I am trying to think back to some of the high profile cases that had attorneys that were not public defenders. But, when thinking about it…I think they all worked pro-bono. I do know the state helps those that are indigent, but I don’t think they help with a million dollar defense team with the experts they have….at least not at their price tag. This would be a great question for Bill to answer.

  16. stephanie says:

Okay…I left my question for Bill or if someone else knows the answer to this if Bill already answered it.

  17. nannab says:

she doesn’t need much defense..we all know…and her defense knows.. she did it.. sheeesh.. she isn’t OJ… LOL

  18. stephanie says:

    so very true Nanna, lol

  19. Molly says:

    Hi everybody!
Well, I guess we saw this one coming.. such timing on the whole thing! The Anthony’s stopped paying their mortgage last year & still have no money (supposedly) have no money. soon the bankruptcy filing will be coming, they know how this all works. now suddenly casey has no money either. where did she get the 111, to pay baez & Co. or if she was really paid 250,000 then where did the rest of that go?????
The last time she was in court I remember hearing the first rumblings I think it was a baez comment about casey being indigent. I was surprised to hear that after all of this time & was suspicious something was in the works.
now casey will have no money for the civil suit with Zenaida & neither will the Ant’s. I knew they should have pushed that case thru too.

  20. Molly says:

I am amazed that they can even petition the state for money! I thought if you didn’t have money, you had to take the public defender. Looks like they are asking for just about everything to be paid by the state except baez’s fees.

  21. nannab says:

poor little WF… waaaaaah… just a bunch of crooks…. and they all want to be on camera…

  22. Marsha says:

Oh, I see…now our taxes can go up so that WF can pay her attorneys? Where do I vote NO?

  23. stephanie says:

I am not sure how that works…I also thought you had to get a public defender unless someone works pro-bono.

  24. Justme66 says:

Good evening everyone.. Is anyone here, or are you all off blowing off some steam?? *L*

  25. Justme66 says:

Do me a favor, if anyone is here.. I found a link called, “Indigent Defense Capital Case Representation Memorandum”.. The link is here… http://www.ncsconline.org/WC/Publications/KIS_IndDefMemoPub.pdf

On page 5 of that document are Florida’s qualifications for being an attorney for someone who has been declared indigent.. From what I’m reading, and from what I know of Bozo’s previous cases, unless I’m reading it wrong, he won’t qualify to be an attorney under Florida Law if Casey is declared indigent. Even as co-counsel, there are some pretty strict guidelines.. UNLESS I’m reading it wrong.. *Crosses fingers and prays he doesn’t qualify*

  26. mikka says:

thats outrage,111.000 dollar cma paid bozo, this shows me,cindy and geo give the money bozo from her mediablitz !

  27. Justme66 says:

One question.. IF Casey is declared indigent, and the state is paying for some of her defense, wouldn’t that put an end to all of these repetitive IDIOT motions that Bozo and crew keep filing.. The taxpayers of Florida are already a little hot under the collar with this fiasco.. I can’t see them sitting back with their mouths closed while this dumb azz bunch continues to waste their money.. I’m telling ya, there’s a riot a comin’… I can feel it in me bones.. *LOL*

  28. Justme66 says:

Hey Mikka.. You think that $111,000 is more than Bozo was making at the circus??? And he was the star of the show, I’ll bet..

  29. mikka says:

justmee, bozo is not a public defender,he is a privat lawyer, but for later he will get paid like a public defender!will he work for less??i think NOT,and the screamteam, can forget to fly first class ticket to florida!she will get paid like a regular expert, will she work for less???i think NOT!
    the dreamteam(hahahahhah) falls appart!

  30. mikka says:

justmee  i am pissed, geo and c pay it,NOT cma!blood money from caylee!

  31. mikka says:

    thats interessting,the cost for
medical or mental examinations, sounds like he go for insanity deal??????

  32. Justme66 says:

That’s exactly right Mikka.. But from my understanding of the article in the link I left above, Bozo can’t even qualify as her attorney if she’s declared indigent. He has to have so many cases under his belt, so many of them felonies, and so many of them murder cases, which to my knowledge he hasn’t had… Wasn’t he an attorney who mainly dealt with misdemeanors before “his girl” entered his life?? He was a nobody.. And AL is not going to take this big of a pay cut, IMO.. Casey is screwed.. And she’s not even going to get kissed…

  33. mikka says:

    from a blogger ,love it!!!!!!

i am willing to pay for the bullet to put into the back of her head ! CASE CLOSED !

  34. mikka says:

justmee,i think the new docs must be good!

  35. mikka says:

justmee, looks like we dont get a trial 2011!

  36. Justme66 says:

The Gravy Train has dried up Mikka.. WE ALL knew it would in a matter of time.. All that’s left is a few crusty bits of crumbs here and there from a few idiots who still believe the skank is innocent… But that’s not even enough to buy her snacks I’ll bet… Oh well, what did the lying beesterds expect??? The public would keep falling for their crock of crap?? I think this family is more hated than Osama sometimes.. And he’s one HIGHLY HATED individual.. Maybe they can go live in his cave with him… SICKOS…

  37. mikka says:

justmee you can be right,a blogger write this!

If the tax payer has to pay then she gets a public defender. You can’t claim to be indigent and keep your high priced private lawyer

  38. Justme66 says:

I bet if the A’s tried to move in with Osama, it wouldn’t take long and he’d be crawling out of whatever cave he’s hiding in… He’d come out with his hands in the air saying, “I surrender, PLEASE get me AWAY from these NUTS!!”.. *ROFL*

  39. mikka says:

justmee, the taxpayer will be outraged over this, pay for cma defense!

  40. mikka says:

    justmee

  41. mikka says:

    brb

  42. Justme66 says:

Mikka.. That’s EXACTLY the way it works here… NO money, you get what they offer you.. Case closed… Take it or leave it… You don’t get to declare indigency, then say give me a million dollar a year attorney.. It doesn’t happen that way…

BTW… Why no trial in 2011.. It doesn’t take long for this process to happen… It can be declared in one day… Lawyer appointed the same day, and on their way toward trial..

  43. Justme66 says:

I’m SURE the state of Florida has a whole list of DP qualified PUBLIC defenders to choose from.. Ahhh.. The sound of that… PUBLIC DEFENDER… Music to my ears.. Especially when it has Casey Anthony’s name attached to it…

  44. Hadley says:

Thanks Stephanie. His name is Kemper. He’s spoiled rotten. Thinks he’s a Great Dane…haha

I just watched JVM about beautiful little Chelsea King…omg that tears my heart out. As a Mom of two gorgeous daughters, I imagine you are afraid to let them out of your sight. (I swear, I would just slip a can of Mace in their purses!) I would be terrified to be a parent nowadays. Something has GOT to be done to change the laws. JVM is trying to come up with something. I hope she succeeds!

  45. ss says:

    Hi Mikka, Justme

The defense team said it’s faced with extensive costs to defend Anthony, ensure she receives a fair trial and prevent the state from taking her life.

The initial cost estimates for defending Anthony have been far exceeded by the additional costs incurred since the state’s decision to pursue the death penalty, the defense team claims.

As a result, the defense said it’s seeking state assistance to subsidize the costs of travel, serving subpoenas, hiring experts to interpret evidence and transcripts, deposing in- and out-of-state witnesses and investigating all aspects of the case.

Attorneys said the assistance is critical to enabling the defense to interview the 100-plus individuals on the state’s witness list, investigate thousands of tips and analyze complex forensic evidence.

    Have a good night!

  46. Hadley says:

I also think the Anthonys are trying to scam people into paying house payments for them! Bet they’ve got a whole pile of money stashed away, and are playing “pitiful” to get someone to pay their house notes. THEY ARE CONS AND GRIFTERS!

(I said so in the Sentinal! Sick of their BS!

  47. mikka says:

ss thanks  ,nighty ss

  48. Justme66 says:

I have a daughter who just turned 18.. She took a night class at a local college last semester… I live in a very small town, but my daughter had both mace or pepper spray at arms length at any given time.. You have to protect yourself, and I told her to not be afraid to use it, and that if she thought she was in danger, lay it to them… We’d deal with whatever consequences later.. One can’t take chances where their lives are concerned.. IMO

  49. mikka says:

hadley i agree,i hope she rott all in hell!

  50. mikka says:

    love this,

    analyze complex forensic evidence,
i was thinking bozo say all the time junk sience!!

  51. Justme66 says:

Plus my daughter was in the Army ROTC, and she’s got some good sized guns on her.. Her brothers don’t mess with her AT ALL.. They know better.. *L*

  52. Justme66 says:

I was stunned by that too Mikka.. I thought they already had their experts willing to come and “investigate” everything.. Now they want money.. WEll Gee.. Imagine that… I think the truer statement would be.. “We need more money to pay these cons, (Kerley, etc) to lie for our side”.. Lies aren’t cheap are they?? They’ve already ran out of money.. If Bozo has been paid 111,000.00, and the Anthony’s didn’t get any of the money, (as one blog owner said), then WHERE in the He11 is the other $89,000.00 PLUS the last $20,000.00 they were paid right before they went on the cruise?? That’s another $109,000.00 unaccounted for… Where is it??

  53. mikka says:

    from a blogger,thats interessting,

R Hornsby said in one of his blog answers, WHEN the Defense takes the STATES monies, ALL the monies that have been spent on KC’s defense will be made public, all experts salaries, any movie deals, a TOTAL accounting of every expenditure thus far & where the $$$$$ came from. They were NOT accountable UNTIL they take STATE monies

  54. Justme66 says:

Mikka.. You gotta love the Sunshine state… I’d say he knows exactly what he’s talking about… Hold on to your undies.. It’s gonna be a wild ride when all of that comes out.. UNLESS they have hidden it well.. I bet there’s a bunch of bloggers, maybe even some blog owners, whose undies are looking like Bozo’s about right now… I bet their undies are full of brown racing stripes and road maps.. HEhehehehehe..

  55. Justme66 says:

Well, I have to run… Hate to, but have to.. Long day tomorrow.. I’ll cya’ll when I can… *HUGS*

  56. Hadley says:

Mikka, I think she should be scrubbing toilets, and doing HARD LABOR right now! All she does is sit on her azz and stuff her face. She has NO REMORSE..none. She is just like that Gardner crazy that raped and murdered little Chelsea King. No punishment is bad enough for these low life!!

  57. mikka says:

hadley,i agree, hard labor in prison for this whole anthony clan!

  58. mikka says:

    justmee night,nighty!

    i go too,

hadley your doggie is so cute! see ya later, nighty!

  59. mikka says:

    quick,on teh caylee daily
the anthonys(forclosure my a**) take 100 dollar in cma jailaccount, and joy wray on 8.february 5 dollar!

  60. stephanie says:

    Is anyone here??

  61. gigwails says:

Hi Steph!!! I see the duh-fense team are crying poor now…

  62. maze says:

so what if the state says NO we are not going to pay????isn’t that a conflict of interest ???

  63. gigwails says:

Steph, you brought up a great question about whether Baez and Co. would have to disclose how they were paid prior to their whining about Casey being indigent. To me, it would only be fair……if she could afford it before…prove it. She was unemployed before she was arrested, so how could she afford it then, but not now? They should have to disclose all of it…especially if they expect the Florida taxpayers to foot the rest of the bill. She shouldn’t have been so cocky to begin with and gotten a public defender to begin with…..that’s what people with no money do….

  64. Thom says:

    Hi All!
Here in PA, you declare your status at your preliminary (that FIRST appearance, even before BOND is reduced but a couple days after arraignment) you take a PD or, if you have co-defendants, a court appointed. I NEVER heard or seen this in me 5 years of being a **koff** guest of the state. I figure it should be ‘Too Fng bad, get a PD or Bozo goes pro bono. This current fiasco would not play here in this commonwealth :-) brrrr turned the kero off for the meeting. Me two-legged kitty went to see “Alice” with her son and his girlfriend. BRB after I feed me two four legged kitties ;-)

  65. gigwails says:

I hope the state does say NO. Why should the taxpayers be penalized for Casey’s arrogance???

  66. stephanie says:

    Hi Maze, Gigs and Thom

Gigs…I don’t see why she wouldn’t have to show all…It only makes sense because they didn’t have a problem before. They can say “oh it is because of the dp,” but the fact is before it was still first degree murder. Wouldn’t they put on a vigorous defense before hand to keep her out of jail for the rest of her life…So it might be a bit more because of adding Lyons, but come on how much more is that. Did she not know when added that Casey had no money?

THom…This is where I am getting confused…How do you go about it after long after the fact of hiring the people they have?

  67. stephanie says:

OMG Thom…You have 4 legged kittens??? lol I am really tired…This is when I really crack myself up, lol

  68. maze says:

maybe the state will say no except this plea now…saving the taxpayers humongous amounts of money

  69. gigwails says:

Steph….can’t you see that bubble-headed Baez get up in front of the judge and basically say…..take our word for it? I know you’ve also noticed that they are blaming the state for all of this…again Gee, blame the state for seeking justice when nobody in the Anthony family chooses to. If they were worth anything, they would have prepared for the possibility of DP being on the table…

  70. stephanie says:

Too bad the state can’t order them to take a plea. If she would have had a public defender this would have all been over by now more than likely. Beaz wanted this trial from the very beginning. I know Casey doesn’t want to admit guilt, but I have no doubts in the beginning and for a long time he made it clear to her they can beat this.

Gigs…I totally can see that, what a dumb arse he is. Nobody in that camp has ever taken any responsibility for anything.

I have to call it a night…have to be up early early tomorrow. You all have a good evening.

  71. Thom says:

back 1 two legged (me girl) and two regular kitty kitties :-) Of the few I heard they just dropped the client for no money :-)

  72. Justme66 says:

One quick message… Should already be in bed.. I just can’t sleep.. ARGH!!

From what I have seen around here, you declare indingency at your arraignment, or at least by the first pre-trial conference… (You know, when the judge asks if you have an attorney, and if you can’t afford one they will appoint one for you) They should have known with Casey’s prior work history, etc, and from looking at George and Cindy’s past, that Casey wasn’t going to have money for long.. They were depending on those public donations to keep rolling in to pay for her defense… Like I said before, how long did they REALLY expect it to last?? The public is NOT stupid..

I don’t know how this would work in my state either.. I do know that the local politicians would have a hissy fit if they didn’t get to line their pockets first.. *LOL* Just kidding.. If this had come up during business hours, I could have called my local county attorney and asked him.. I also live in a Commonwealth State Thom. I don’t really know that there’s alot of difference, but you sure don’t see this kind of ruckus happening with taxpayer money around here.. Not that I have seen anyway.. It just continues to amaze me that Judge Strickland hasn’t blown slap up on them… Maybe they just need a good ole boy Judge to line them out… *LOL*

  73. Justme66 says:

The defense is using the DP being on the table as an excuse for ALL of this.. WHAT IF the state said “Okay, DP is off, get your azzes on the move, we’ll be in court by fall 2010″.. I bet the defense would look like a bunch of crawdads then… They’d have to install beepers on their azzes they’d be backing up so fast… They make me physically and mentally sick…

  74. gigwails says:

    good night steph…

  75. stephanie says:

This is from Bill’s site…There is caps on how much the state would pay towards Casey’s defense. Also, like I said earlier…nothing has really changed except the dp being put on the table which he then brought in Lyons. Is she even charging or working pro-bono? He also has one less attorney to pay. The costs would have been pretty much the same or at least his defense of Casey should have been just as vigorous when it was 1st degree (she was looking at the rest of her life in prison at 23 yrs old) as it is with the dp.
From another one I read he will have to show where all money came from and went to..didn’t read close enough to copy and paste as I am not awake yet, lol.

ThoughtElf said, on March 5, 2010 at 11:21 pm

Here is the 2009 Florida Fee Schedule:

    http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/…Section%205304

This is the most Baez would be able to get.

    d) If the chief judge or designee finds that counsel has proved by competent and substantial evidence that the case required extraordinary and unusual efforts, the chief judge or designee shall order the compensation to be paid to the attorney at a percentage above the flat fee rate, depending on the extent of the unusual and extraordinary effort required. The percentage shall be only the rate necessary to ensure that the fees paid are not confiscatory under common law. The percentage may not exceed 200 percent of the established flat fee, absent a specific finding that 200 percent of the flat fee in the case would be confiscatory. If the chief judge or designee determines that 200 percent of the flat fee would be confiscatory, he or she shall order the amount of compensation using an hourly rate not to exceed $75 per hour for a noncapital case and $100 per hour for a capital case. However, the compensation calculated by using the hourly rate shall be only that amount necessary to ensure that the total fees paid are not confiscatory.

Here is the flat rate info:

    4. For capital cases represented at the trial level: $15,000. For purposes of this subparagraph, a “capital case” is any offense for which the potential sentence is death and the state has not waived seeking the death penalty.

Oh, I’d love for Bill to weigh in on this!

  76. Muesli says:

OMG, I awoke this morning after a night out with friends, to find the cowards filed this motion at 5 p.m. on a Friday evening. I am outraged, flabbergasted, and totally disgusted with our legal system. I am a resident of Florida. We work, pay our bills, our taxes, obey the laws, do without, when our obligations take priority over our wishes for fun and games. What exactly is going on here? How come these people always know how to use, and abuse the system. I’ve had enough of this sheet. I am on a quest. I will know. It is my right to know each and every detail of what has been going on for the past 2 years. This has got to stop. I am too angry to blog any further at this point. I may say the wrong things because my emotions are running too high.

  77. MeMa52 says:

left a message on OT yesterday evening….still in shock and desperately need your prayers

  78. mikka says:

debwv,i am glad she locking for the second girl!

  79. mikka says:

muesli,i am outraged over this too,why bozo come up with this now???something fishy again!

  80. mikka says:

    from a blogger

richard grund made while doing a blog interview on blog radio with simon and TJ hart and Cobra a while back. Richard said he may be seeking a suit againt Cindy and George for slander and defromation of character for himself and his son.

  81. mikka says:

    from hal,

What happens to a defense team’s motion asking the state to pick up costs for Casey Anthony’s case?

“This judge will not deny this motion,” WFTV-Channel 9 analyst Bill Sheaffer predicted.

The notion that taxpayers would have to help pay for Anthony’s defense might outrage some readers. But Sheaffer predicted the change would speed up the case because the state would have more control. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

WFTV anchor Liz Artz this morning said the station had learned Anthony is keeping her legal team instead of getting a state-appointed attorney. But Artz offered no details.

The defense motion led the 6 p.m. news Friday on WKMG-Channel 6.

WKMG anchor Louis Bolden introduced the story this morning as “a Tony Pipitone investigation you will see only on Local 6.” It was another first-rate report from the top-flight Pipitone.

Pipitone noted that Anthony was “flat broke” when she was arrested in 2008. “That soon changed as television networks vied to pay for the rights to video and photos that helped tell the story of her then-missing daughter Caylee,” Pipitone said.

Anthony says she is broke again in an affidavit she signed Tuesday, Pipitone said.

Yet Pipitone outlined that Anthony paid $22,500 to defense attorney Andrea Lyon for costs and $89,400 to defense attorney Jose Baez. Lyon is working pro bono. An affidavit did not break down Baez’s money between costs and fees.

Pipitone set up the question for viewers: Where did Anthony get that money?

The defense motion asks the state to cover costs in Anthony’s case for depositions, investigators, legal research, travel expenses and other defense expenses. Anchor Bolden emphasized that the motion seeks money for costs, not attorney’s fees.

  82. mikka says:

now after a couple of minutes thinking,
cma on death row is PRICELESS!!!

  83. lynda says:

goodmorning every one, just one thought, is it possible that c&g deliberatly lost their house to show that they too are indigent, making the taxpayers feel sorry for cma? It’s all too coincidental. I am very suspicious. lee moved back home to help them pay the bills. If he couldn’t cough up 785.00 a month, well that’s pretty strange.I think this has been a plan for a long time. off to work. bbl.

  84. nannab says:

true Mikka… Priceless.. Little Caylee lived on death row for almost 3 years..

  85. lynda says:

    Justice for Caylee

  86. chap says:

hi everyone, I am not surprised on this one… but can baez continue to be her defense attorney, the way I am understanding it, wouldn’t she get a court appointed attorney?? oh, I have gotten so rusty! this bunch never ceases to amaze me, what a joke, the taxpayers paying for the dense of this murdering mother! I think if the state pays baez to defend her & I lived in the Sunshine state, I would be looking for real estate somewhere other than Florida! Talk about the right to a fair trial, who was fair to Caylee???

  87. stephanie says:

    Hello Eveyone

Chap…Good to see you. From what I understand he can continue on, but will NOT be paid like hi might want to be paid.
At 2:26 this morning I posted what the rules are for that….I stole it, lol

  88. ss says:

    Hi Everyone!!

Eyewitness News found out the fees for Anthony’s attorneys would not be included in what taxpayers have to pay.

Since taxpayer dollars could be involved, the judge could question Anthony’s attorneys about any possible book or movie deals that may be planned.

If Anthony does have money coming in from any such deals, she would be obligated to reimburse the county.

State May Pay For Casey’s Defense

  90. Sanny says:

    IMO

I think Jusde Stan will allow the motion to go through.

The State will pay for Casey’s defense.

I know, I know this shouldn’t be…….because Baez and Cohorts knew for a
long time that their funds were in question but refused to answer only saying
it was NOT the Public’s business….

However it seems not it has BECOME THE PUBLICS BUSINESS because they
will be footing the bill for Casey Anthony.

This latest snag in the case should be putting Baez on the road to another
    stomach virus or ulcer attack.

  91. Sanny says:

Sorry….the above should read ‘Judge’ and not Jusde.

  92. Sanny….yea the stomach virus/ulcer! I hope he had it good to!
I hope the state says NO way Jose Bozo to the funding!
I am wondering if they would HAVE to show how they SPENT the money they had!!!
