Casey Anthony Convicted Felon 20 April 2010, The Judge

20 April 2010 at 17:55
By

He is a hard core Judge. He takes no crap and shuts the attorney up when needed.  Here are a few of the cases he has had:

¤ In 1998 Scott Mansfield, to death in the electric chair for killing Sara Robles.

¤ In 2002, The Judge sentenced John Higgins to death for the murder of Carla Larson in 1997.

¤ In 2003 Juan De Santiago was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison for murdering Natalie Gomez Perez. She died in May 1999, two days after De Santiago and mother, Raquel Gomez, took her to a hospital claiming an exercise weight fell on the child.

¤ In 2008 Lionel Miller was sentenced to death for the murder of 72-year-old Jerry Smith on Easter Sunday 2006.

¤ In 2008 Ernest Simmons was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for the man who shot and injured two Orange County deputies during a robbery. Simmons attorney asked the judge for a concurrent sentence instead of back to back, but he turned him down, saying “he shot at two deputies and he wasn’t offering a two for one special.”

This is a need to know:

In an unusual move, Osceola Circuit Court Judge Margaret Waller had a young lawyer arrested this week after declaring her in contempt of court. The stunned woman sat beside her jail-inmate clients in handcuffs in the courtroom’s jury box as the judge continued hearing cases.
Orange-Osceola Public Defender Robert Wesley called Waller’s decision to have Kemie King, 27, wait publicly in handcuffs before her clients and colleagues “humiliating” and an “outrage.”
King did nothing wrong, Wesley said. “It’s just a bully act,” he said.
But Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry backed Waller, saying she was well within her rights to punish King. Rudeness is such a chronic problem that Perry issued an administrative order in April because assistant prosecutors and public defenders were increasingly rolling their eyes, mouthing off and exchanging personal insults.

These are just a few of the court cases I have found. There are many more that have been sentenced by Judge Perry. May the defense get it together, because I don’t see the death penalty being removed anytime soon.

Ha, ha….great news about the new judge. When Baez filed the motion to have Strickland removed, I thought out loud….”Be careful what you wish for….” Strickland was patient and bent over backwards to be fair. Judge Perry appears to be very tough and won’t put up with Baez’s crap. I can’t wait for the next hearing…

  8. maze on 20 April 2010 at 18:11

  17. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:19

    This is funny:

Attorneys talk back to judges, chew gum and read newspapers during court.
They yammer loudly among themselves and yak on cell phones while taking depositions.
In the wake of a young assistant public defender in Osceola County being handcuffed for contempt of court on the orders of a judge who said she was rude, judges and legal experts Thursday bemoaned a lack of civility in the courtroom and said conduct has deteriorated rapidly in recent years.
Since the issue of attorney rudeness took center stage in the profession a decade ago, lawyer associations have begun teaching members better manners through skits and role-playing. Now hundreds of bar associations across the nation have enacted rules of decorum for their attorneys.

“It’s important to acknowledge the dignity of the things that go on in the courtroom,” said Joseph W. Little, a University of Florida law professor. “Otherwise, there can be laxity in the whole system.”

Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry was so disgusted by boorish behavior that he came up with his own rules, which he had laminated and hung on walls. Perry, who backed Circuit Judge Margaret Waller’s action Tuesday that led to the cuffing of 27-year-old Kemie King in the courthouse in Kissimmee, said he once spotted an attorney munching on a doughnut in the courtroom.

  29. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:32

Mikka, well when you read the news, I assume she does, she will be crying at what the attorney’s say about Judge Perry! Many have stated they have made a big mistake or will regret it!

  30. gracie34 on 20 April 2010 at 18:33

I wonder if Jose Baez remembers what happened to Robert Shapiro when he assembled OJ’s defense team. Old Bobby went from the lead attorney to bottom of the race card deck in a hurry. he fought & argued with most if not all of his co counsel. F. Lee Baily (old blowhard himself) went from being the godfather to his children & best pal to bitter enemy.

Jose might want to be careful inviting in other attorney’s who are smarter than him to share the limelight, might backfire on him.

  31. gigwails on 20 April 2010 at 18:34

I wonder what his reaction will be to all these ridiculous motions that Baez and his Stooge crew keep filing over and over….especially when they are filed incorrectly?

  32. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:36

humble i hope she watch tv!

  33. Marsha on 20 April 2010 at 18:37

Gig, I hope they end up as scrap paper at the jail for WF to write her letters on.

  34. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:38

gracia,i think, perry first will ask who is the leader in the defense.bozo will say i of course, but now comes the problem,he is NOT an qualificate D.P attorney, perry will say NEXT!

  35. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:39

marsha  flush a ronnie! :w00t:

  36. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:39

gig,may he dont make a hearing,he will denied this with a heartbeat!

  37. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 18:41

The judge will last first thing – Take that ink pen and tablet away from that alleged murderer. The state is paying for supplies now and she doesnt need one. And also, for the fake crying, make sure you always have your own tissues.

  38. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 18:42

A type – meantto say judge will say first thing

  39. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:44

    jnetk

  40. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 18:45

Orlando Sentinel says Judge Perry is already pouring over the files.

Also, on a ffunny note: One of the News Headings on Orlando Sentinel says:

DIPLOMAS IN FLORIDA ARE GOING TO GET HARDER TO GET NOW. Poor Casey, more studying

  41. gigwails on 20 April 2010 at 18:45

I bet Judge Strickland is somewhere right now laughing….. I know I am…LOL!!!!

  42. CT•j4C on 20 April 2010 at 18:47

At least Bozo won’t be able to say that he is the minority. Another minority will sentence his client to death. Double edged sword for the Muffin Muncher. Oy

  43. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:47

gig, i bet he had a long talk with perry, and perry told him dont worry stan,i take care of it! hahahhahahha

  44. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 18:47

    Gig

Well at least now he can really read Marmalade’s blog and see how wrong he was in complementing him. He’s probably scratching his head and thinking, I put a black mark on my judge career for this buffoon.

  45. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:47

ct how are you??how is baby girl and baby boy???

  46. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:48

  48. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:48

Mikka! We are good, thanks for asking :)

  51. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:50

You think Casey faked cried when Mr.Ashton read what happened to Caylee, we will see REAL tears when she is found guilty as charged! Of course, only because it is happening to her!

  52. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:50

  56. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:52

    Mikka

Jnetk, he will never be a Judge, I so can bet this just for how long it took him to pass the board, and even become an attorney! No one will want him.

  57. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:52

humble, she was fake crying, because in her mind she was thinking, damm it how ashton know it!it was angry tears!

  58. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:53

  59. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 18:53

How do you get a job as a trustee in Casey’s jail. I want to be one. Unless you have to be a criminal to become one. Priceless to see her now after Jose fills her in. He will say honeypie, I probably won’t be able to sneak you red licorice in anymore. I’ll just eat some before I come to see you and you can smell my licorice breath.

  60. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:54

CT, I hope she gets kicked out of the court room!
    chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp

Hi ya Deb…yep priceless it will be!

Mikka, it was all a show! Nothing real! The real tears will come when she is found guilty, then wait for the sentencing!

  61. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:54

    Jnetk!

  62. CT•j4C on 20 April 2010 at 18:54

At the next hearing, Bozo will be wearing double depends. Extra absorbent. WF will wear her wavy hair in a half bun so they can see the tears she sheds for her.

  63. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 18:55

Geez Mikka, this is crazy. It took him 8 years to make the bar, and it’s going to take him 8 years to try his first real trial.

  64. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:55

debvw, priceless is the right word,i think perry look the motion,he dont let bozo talk for hours, and than he make a decision, anyway perry know when he go in the courtroom, what his decision will be!
and he dont will hear crying lyon, and screaming baden!

  65. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:56

Well they can find all the dirt they want. Seems he has resided over many cases and apparently has given the dp out many times!

  66. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 18:56

I’m sorry, but I’m on a role tonight. Too much sleep today, I guess.

But with Cindy being against minorities, how can she stand being in court with a black judge and a hispanic attorney.

  67. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:56

    jnetk,bozo have the wrong job!

  68. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:57

jnetk  no more gums for her!

  69. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 18:57

The good thing, i assume the prosecutors have had him as the Judge before! They know how it works….heck they were pretty good when Stricky was in charge!

  70. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:57

    ct

  71. CT•j4C on 20 April 2010 at 18:58

  73. mikka on 20 April 2010 at 18:58

  74. glen on 20 April 2010 at 18:59

  106. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 19:24

Channel 13 said there would probably be a status hearing with the Prosecution/Defense/and Judge Perry to find out where everyone is along the case. Should be very interesting.

  107. quarterhorse_trainer on 20 April 2010 at 19:24

I know Mikka… Crazy huh? lol
I just watched the vid of who Perry is.. You know, this must have been somehow planned. This is a judge that is familiar with the DP and criminal cases murder etc. I think this is the best thing that could have happened. I was kind of scared of Strickland at times. B/c I though he was to Lax & chummy with Casey & the D.

    Night Mikka!

  120. Suzie Jane on 20 April 2010 at 19:34

So any one else think what we thought was a tragic situation might very well turn out to be the best news ever for our lil girl Caylee??

I can’t wait for the proceedings to begin –

I’m thinkin the duhfense shot themselves in the clown shoe big time..

  121. blessedknox on 20 April 2010 at 19:37

I agree…what BOZO and team meant for evil has probably turned out best for JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE.

ALSO….If I were Cindy, George and Lee I would be shaking in my boots, too.

Judge Perry sentenced one man to death for killing and the accomplice to LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE because he kept the gang mentality and refused to tell on his friend…

The Anthony Clan know a lot and has REFUSED TO TELL WHAT THEY KNOW ABOUT CAYLEE’S MURDER, TOO….

    HUMMMMMM

  122. jnetk on 20 April 2010 at 19:53

I believe God, in his compassion and wisdom, saw that Judge Strickland had been punished enough and saved him from ill health.

You better believe I think this is for the best, what defense mean for good for them will turn out bad for them.

Our God is so good, His loving kindness goes on forever.

  123. quarterhorse_trainer on 20 April 2010 at 20:04

I know… I pray every night for Caylee’s Justice, and that she’s in heaven, sitting next to God playing happily, no more pain, no more fights, always happy & contented. She’s safe now, in the arms of God… He is in control of this trial, it’s becoming more apparent all the time! =)

  124. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 20:11

Hi Suzie, it is a good thing, but it is just very sad what happened to Strickland. A fricken blogger helped the defense, the defense then he has the audacity to say they are wasting money looking for him [yea way to try and win the hearts of the FL taxpayers], yea I highly doubt it wasn’t hard to open the drawer and look at the phone number and cal him up!

  125. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 20:18

In the letter Casey mumbles about God. What I know is, She has to recognize her need to be forgiven, she needs to confess and ask for forgiveness [and this isn't to herself or Cookie, etc]! Might I add this might work for Cindy too, but she is such a liar, I am sure she cant remember them all!

  126. Suzie Jane on 20 April 2010 at 20:23

But Humble – as bad as I felt at first, now – not so much. It’s almost like we will be thanking MD in the future as this trial proceeds as a result of the current shenanigans.

  127. Suzie Jane on 20 April 2010 at 20:28

Good nite Humble and friends – see ya tomorrow XOXO

  128. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 20:39

Suzie, I guess it isn’t the fact he is gone, it is how it was gone done.

    See you tomorrow!

  129. blessedknox on 20 April 2010 at 20:53

Agree Humble ~ how it was done….another good person thrown under the bus!

Good night Humble Friends and Humble! We’ll chat tomorrow…

    Blessings!

  130. Colhere on 20 April 2010 at 21:36

The best thing to happen yet. Now, of course Perry will no doubt rip on the prosecution for anything he perceives as out of line.. but, there is a lot more out of line with the defence. There is such a thing as meaningful motions and then there is playing games. Now the game belongs to the judge and there will be no more games by the defence.. I say let the new game begin. There will be justice.

To MD: Thanks.. you actually did a LOT for the pro-prosecution.. I still think it will be a long shot that she fries for it, but she will spend the rest of her life in jail.

  131. Brad 'shopping cart' Conway on 20 April 2010 at 21:38

I bet when Casey finds out about Judge Perry, she’ll be screeching her little head off at Baez. I think Baez will be in the dog house for awhile…CMA does NOT tolerate this kind of crap. He was supposed to get her a wimpy liberal anti-death penalty judge!

She’ll have to study her law books EXTRA hard now, she’s in for a long haul.

  132. humbleopinion on 20 April 2010 at 21:46

    Hi ya Col and Brad!

Col, the defense will be ripped apart. I have a feeling they wanted a Judge who would let them act as childish as they have in the past!

Brad, I have a feeling she already knows. She just didn’t expect him. I left you a comment on the Conway post.

    http://www.ninthcircuit.org/news/press_details.asp?id=176

    Excerpt:

Judge Perry was recognized by FLABOTA, not only for his 20 year career as a Judge and 12 years serving as Chief Judge, but also for his work on numerous statewide committees to promote an efficient and effective judicial branch. He was specifically recognized for his efforts as a member and current Chair of the Florida Trial Court Budget Commission (TCBC) and credited for leading the charge in support of proper court funding in a time of reduced spending and budget cuts.

    *************************************
Now about that motion regarding the Defense budget. Picture this:
Judge Perry will say to the Defense in less than 60 seconds…….

    1. The standards set forth for legal costs associated with the due process of a capital case are what they are and they are NOT negotiable.

    2. JAC will provide you with the procedures for funding legal costs for an indigent client in a capital case.

    3. JAC will review request for payment of legal cost and determine if they will be allowed or disallowed.

    4. Request for more State $$$ – DENIED! Any questions? Go back and read #1

    Good night Humbleopinion & Friends.

  134. Brad 'shopping cart' Conway on 20 April 2010 at 22:19

You know Cheney Foghorn leghorn mason said he disliked the JAC and said they serve no purpose and should be disbanded. This is going to be interesting.

  135. gracie34 on 20 April 2010 at 23:22

Humble – I see some bad JU JU coming for the defense with this new judge. Loved Stan but this could be better in the end. Gotta go look some JU JU spells, lol

The only thank you he deserves is the one he MIGHT get if he shuts his mouth. On TV beaking about his public, who hell does he think he is , Sarah Palin? The man rambles incoherently just like she does. I can diss Sarah because I am a Canadian and she’s used my health care system.

  137. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 05:17

    gm,
s$m thanks,i believe perry will make a wise decision, what cma get paid!perry dont like she had 200000 dollars ,bozo hire all this lawyers, than the money goes out,and than she want the taxpayers pay all,no way!perry will think this smells like rotten pizza!

  138. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 05:25

    dirt on perry! :w00t:

It speaks to Perry’s reputation that he regained his status following a sex scandal that nearly derailed his career.

In 1998, he acknowledged a seven-year affair with former deputy court administrator Janis Williamson. She was fired a year earlier and filed a discrimination complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Perry publicly apologized for the affair but said Williamson’s firing had nothing to do with their relationship. She settled her complaint in 1999 for $65,000.

  139. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 05:28

I think they will be very sorry that they recused Judge Strickland and now have Judge Perry,” Black said. “He will move that case along.” hahahahahahahhahah

  140. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 05:33

In his second stretch as Orange Circuit chief judge, Perry likes to-the-point conversations and has little patience for bickering.

The constant sniping between Anthony attorney José Baez and Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton will end, attorneys say.

“I don’t think there is going to be a lot of extra patience, Tennis said. “The arguing back and forth between the lawyers is not going to happen anymore.”

  141. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 05:35

  149. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 06:45

better geo dont lie at trial!

perry has heard testimony from six of the State’s key witnesses, including a lab technician with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, a computer specialist, lead investigators and every Casey’s father, George.

  150. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:00

    Hey Gang

You know, Mikka, George is going to have a hard time changing his testimony because Judge Perry heard his first testimony at the Grand Jury. I think I smell some jail time to Cindy and George. Lee better protect his immunity and act like a good little boy or he will be in there with them.

  151. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:01

I kind of hate for them to remove the cameras out of the courtroom, but I’m all for a gag order on anything said and seen outside the court. That will gag them alright.

  152. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:05

    It’s me again.

If there are any legal minds on board, I am wondering if the motion Baez wants to file about not releasing the defense witnesses until such time as they are to testify at penalty phase (I think) because if they are outted, they might refuse to testify. Will this motion and what will happen, does he think, that will cause the witnesses to testify.

  153. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:06

jnetk,i agree,he will ask geo,why does he changed his statemant 20 times!

  154. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:07

ONe more time, then I’ll sit back and read.

I was watching the Baez interview after the Check Fraud cause be interviewed and he was going on and on how bad Casey felt, and she missed her good friend, and she wish it hadn’t happened, etc. Well, I thought at the time, I wonder if they are smoozing Amy in the hopes she would be a character witness at trial. Any thoughts.

  155. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:08

jnetk, bozo DONT find somebody who talk about good stuff for cma at the penalty phase, because its give nothing good to say about her!she is a convictet felon, perry dont will like this!

  156. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:09

jnetk,we all know how cma is,she dont care about amy,and she dont care she stole from amy!

  157. Muesli on 21 April 2010 at 07:12

Good morning. Good point jnetk. Perry did hear George in his “almost truthful” early days. George really has to be careful. Cindy really doesn’t know how to be careful. Hope they get something on Mr. Bash & Trash, if those phone calls are not true. Should be interesting from here on in. Loved the video interview in the rain, where, when asked, “What is your real job”, the answer, “This.”. Oh, really, are we also paying for his food? Someone needs to go on a diet. Someone needs to get a job.

I think a gag order and no cameras in the courtroom would be the best way to continue this case. No more posing for the cameras. We would still get reports of how things are going.

Maybe I’ll actually drive up to Orlando and attend future hearings. I can then pass out my business (what business) cards. Then I can be a celebrity. You’ll all be so proud of me. Lights, camera, action……….

  158. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:15

muesli gm,you remember in the beginning, the prosecution want a gag order, bozo DONT want it,cindy, geo DONT want it,because she all know, she will make MONEY from dead caylee!

  159. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:16

    muesli lights,camera.action
    lets teh show begin!

  160. chrissybk on 21 April 2010 at 07:17

good morning my muffins and cookies! :) I hope everyone is doing well. I read the other day that documents were given to the duh-fense on 4/12 or 4/13. When are we going to get them?

  161. hvf on 21 April 2010 at 07:18

I will miss Judge Strickland but the defense will now get a tougher, less tolerant judge to put up with their shananagans.
….. and I hope the new Judge makes them call him “Your Honor” like respectful lawyers SHOULD!

  162. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:21

chrissy, flush a ronnie

  163. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:21

    Museli
I live in Tennessee, but if I lived anywhere close to Orlando, I would be there for sure. Don’t sit close to MD, rumors area that he doesn’t smell too good.

  164. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:22

chrissy,i think not soon, perry must read him first!

  165. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:23

hvf,i agree, perry will say to bozo, put up or sh@t up!

  166. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:23

jnetk :w00t: tooo bad does bozo think we live all in florida!

  167. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:25

Somewhere, don’t remember where, but they said that Judge Perry is so knowledgeable of the law that he can read those motions and decide on the spot. Doesn’t have to research other cases. Yippeee

  168. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:26

jnetk,i agree,i bet bozos 4 motions,he will make a decision without a hearing, because the same motions stricky denied it alreday 2 times!

  169. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:30

I hope Judge Perry says “No more TES records, period”
I hope he says “You can’t hold your defense witnesses until Penalty Phase – Show them now
I hope he says, no more money, the buck stops with ME.

  170. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:31

And, I know he won’t, but I would love for the Judge to say

AND RELEASE THAT VIDEO OF YOUR CLIENT REACTING TO THE FINDING OF THE BODY NEAR HER HOME

I would drive to Orlando for that, no matter how many miles.

  179. chrissybk on 21 April 2010 at 07:39

My bestest 2nd daddy, Jose came by yesterday and told me that he got me a new judge!!! He said that he is so sorry that I didn’t ifnd the right kind of judge up until now. One who would take care of me and appreciate me for who I am and not my amazing sexual skills. He said now that he got me a new judge, I will soon get everything I really deserve! That means that soon I will be free and able to follow my true calling. That’s right, I am going to travel the country in an attempt to locate and rescue all suicidal squirrels that have climbed into car engines and are ready to end their lives. I am strong and independent and got me a totally, absolutely cool new judge! Nothing can stop me now!! Peace out homies! :)

  182. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:40

Mikka, we will need to find a Florida license plate when we cross the state line to confuse Baez that we can put on our car. Better than that, put us all in a U-Haul, you can never tell which state those are from because they all have different plates. Now what an economical way to travel — all in the back of a U-Haul – temperature controlled naturally.

  183. mikka on 21 April 2010 at 07:42

jnetk ,  yep and a I.D card with the name,zanny-nanny! i gues we are all a 10!

You area right Mikka, the Lab and then I can go to Antioch, 30 minutes from my home and interview Cousin Joe. Oh, what shall I call myself. I’ll tell them I’m one of Lyons law students. I do have an old Illinois license plate in my trunk. I moved from Illinois to Tennessee in 2008, and just haven’t throw it away.

  186. chrissybk on 21 April 2010 at 07:46

  191. jnetk on 21 April 2010 at 07:54

There is a case called “White Trash Cafe” near where I live. It’s a good place to eat, I think they are just making it a joke. Anyway, I will ask Cousin Joe to meet me there and we can talk. Perhaps he might feel more comfortable talking there. HHmmm Possibility!!!
