    Good Morning Everyone,

Casey’s Attorneys Back In Court Monday

    Posted: 4:15 pm EDT June 16, 2010
    Updated: 7:48 am EDT June 21, 2010

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The case against Casey Anthony will be back in an Orange County courtroom Monday afternoon.

Attorneys from both sides will meet for a status hearing with Chief Judge Belvin Perry, Jr. The judge could decide whether a jury should be allowed to hear Cindy Anthony’s incriminating 911 call, when she reported Caylee missing and said it smelled like there had been a dead body in Casey’s car.

Casey will not be at Monday’s hearing.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The status hearing scheduled for today for 30 minute duration. IIRC, Baez may not be in court today. He filed a Notice of Unavailability for 11 days including this date. Well, J. Cheney Mason can handle the report out on what the Defense Team has accomplished relative to their court mandated scheduled events.

In the above article, it states in part, “….judge could decide whether a jury should be allowed to hear Cindy Anthony’s incriminating 911 call…” I have my doubts about a ruling being made today on this issue because, as we know, Casey will not be in attendance.

Good morning Smoke. My last two posts were questions concerning what you have answered above. Do you know if these status hearings will be televised? Also, is it because Mr. Biaz is on vacation that the next hearing was postponed from June to July 17. Also, can you explain to me the situation on the hearing on June 23 at 1:30, regarding the motion to strike for a jury trial in the foreclosure process. This really is something I have never heard of. Did George & Cindy really want a jury trial to fight their foreclosure? Doesn’t make sense to me. After all, they hadn’t paid their mortgage for a year.

  3. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 06:48

    Muesli,

    Good morning!

IDK for sure, but I do believe all of the Status Hearings will be televised unless otherwise ‘noticed.’

That whole situation with the Ant’s pending foreclosure is a mystery to me, as well. It does appear the Ant’s were attempting to have a jury trial. You know how “special” they think they are! :w00t: I have never heard of such a thing.

A long time ago, someone (don’t remember who) said it best, the Ants seem to create DRAMA even when there doesn’t need to be any. Geesh!

  4. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 06:58

    Muesli,

I just checked the Calendar of Events for the next Motion Hearing date. It is 15 July 2010. And yes, that is the rescheduled date from the 17 June 2010 date that was not good for Baez.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A couple of days ago you asked, “who left the door open?” I hope you could tell by my response that I have been guarding the door while Humble gets moved into her new home. We were being invaded to the point of having to not only close the door, but also shut all the windows! :w00t:

Everyone please be advised: If you see comments that look strange, especially with weird links, DO NOT CLICK ON THEM! Stay safe.

Yes, Smoke, that post disappeared so quickly the other day. You were right on it. I have become very leery of opening any links which are not familiar to me. I have even asked my email friends to stop sending me links which have been passed through hundreds of hands. Last month I had a really difficult time with my computer, until I was able to get rid of all the bugs. Guess we will have to wait to see if they show the status hearing today. Is still can’t figure out how the defense spent all that money for the past two years, with almost nothing to show for it. I wished the judges would have demanded a serious audit and accountability from them. Don’t understand why they didn’t.

  6. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 07:24

I still can’t—–not Is still can’t. Silly fingers.

  7. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 08:52

Anyone know where Mikka has been?

  8. Carol on 21 June 2010 at 09:13

Hello All! Hi Muesli. Glad to see you back. I think mikka is still in her garden in her backyard. Maybe the flowers are keeping her hostage and holding out for more miracle grow.

    Hi Everyone,

Attorneys To Meet For Status Hearing In Casey Case

    Updated: 12:04 pm EDT June 21, 2010

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The case against Casey Anthony will be back in court Monday afternoon at 1:30pm, but Casey is not expected to attend. Judge Perry said she doesn’t have to come to the monthly status hearings, which won’t involve arguments on major issues.

WFTV.com will have a livestream of the hearing starting just before the 1:30pm start time. more>>>

Thanks for the heads up, Smoke.

  11. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 09:33

    YW Muesli,

BTW, the last time Mikka posted was 16 June 2010 in honor of Caylee. She has been busy but plans to be back soon in full force. Yikes! You have been warned!

  12. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 09:42

TRU tv is discussing the 911 calls now. Well, now is an ad.

  13. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 09:45

One thing that sticks out so clearly in my mind was the time George was yelling at the media and saying, “the body in my granddaughter’s [sic] car, is not my granddaughter”. Wow. What a slip of the tongue that was. Why did he say my granddaughter’s car. Well, obviously he was relating the body to his granddaughter in his mind. That was when I absolutely knew he was lying, and knew exactly that Caylee was dead.

  14. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 10:24

ITA Muesli, now that’s what I call an EXCITED UTTERANCE! :w00t:

    I did not see Cindy.

  26. Justme66 on 21 June 2010 at 10:51

Hmmmmmmmm.. Sounds like Judge Perry just tightened the vice on Cheney Mason’s nards… “Uhhhh, May we approach the bench”… Hehehehehe

  27. maze on 21 June 2010 at 10:51

the defense is constantly holding everything up…why does he not get on them about not being prepared

  28. maze on 21 June 2010 at 10:52

    Hi just

  29. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 10:52

    Hi Justme,

Good to see you! Yep, I knew we couldn’t get throught this 30 min. hearing without a side-bar.

  30. Justme66 on 21 June 2010 at 10:53

Hi Maze… How ya be??

Good to see you too Smoke…. It’s been awhile… Mom in law is here… No time for computer… Too busy keeping the Fruit Loop in the box…

  35. Justme66 on 21 June 2010 at 11:02

At this rate, won’t be long before I’ll be in the box with her…. Another day or so should do the trick… HELP!!

  36. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 11:05

Still seems like defense is stalling. So, Mr. Mason doesn’t know anything about the Kronk issue? I don’t believe that. It seems to me that he has no power on that defense team, and has to get permission from Mr.
Biaz for everything. Mr. Mason just seems like an errand boy for the defense. I also think Judge Perry is too lenient with the defense. The defense has missed all deadlines for submitting witness lists, and continuously gets away with it. Also, why does Mr. Mason think everything is so funny. He laughs at the most inappropriate times, similar to Lee Anthony.

  37. Justme66 on 21 June 2010 at 11:07

    Gotta run girlies… It’s rambling again… *SIGH*

Hopefully soon I’ll get to sit long enough to catch up…

    Laters

  38. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 11:08

    Muesli,

That’s the same sense that I got… Baez did not authorize Mason to make any decisions. WTH?! I think Atty. Mason’s laughing is an involuntary reflex from his stress level. I could be wrong, but I don’t think he is having fun, yet!

  39. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 11:09

Take care Justme and come back soon.

  40. maze on 21 June 2010 at 11:09

    I agree mue….

  41. maze on 21 June 2010 at 11:10

    BREATHE…. JUST…. BREATHE

  42. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 11:11

Was there anybody interesting in the courtroom today. I could only see the mostly empty defense side, which was mostly taken up by a very substantial looking woman (who was she?).

  43. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 11:12

Hey maze, how’ve you been. Long time no see. Good to see you. You too Justme.

  44. muesli on 21 June 2010 at 11:18

So, this person, Sunny, on TRU tv thinks it is a good idea to bring up Kronk’s possible involvement to create some reasonable doubt. Well, I know of someone who kept returning to the scene (you know like a lot of criminals seem to do to see what is happening), who would also make a reasonable suspect. You know, showing much too much interest for no apparent reason in the crime scene.

  45. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 11:19

Since that wasn’t much of a hearing or should I say it’s difficult to do a summary on what happened because of not hearing, we are now back to Chit Chat mode. Have fun!

Judge Sets Hearing For 911 Calls In Casey Case
    Posted: 4:15 pm EDT June 16, 2010
    Updated: 2:53 pm EDT June 21, 2010

    SNIPPED:

Meanwhile, after the hearing, the defense made a comment to WFTV reporter Kathi Belich that was a reverse of previous statements they’ve made. They are now claiming no one from EquuSearch searched the area where Caylee’s remains were later found, despite previously claiming EquuSearch had searched there; the defense had used that claim to this point as their proof that Casey couldn’t have killed Caylee because she was in jail when, the defense had said, the body was put there.

WFTV.com will update this story with more details later Monday afternoon.

  49. Molly on 21 June 2010 at 13:20

I couldn’t hear mason either, I watched it on In Session.

so now they say TES did not search THAT area. is this the new story to try & get access to the files for anyone who might have happened by that exact spot! hmmmm, you would think that someone would have come forward by now if they had. though i don’t blame anyone for not wanting to get involved now, they would be the new suspect. the defense is still & forever grasping. . . .

  50. Carol on 21 June 2010 at 13:23

Hello Humblettes and Humblers. Well, that was another exciting fun filled hearing – not. Boy, Mason is a fumbling mess. He should have stayed home. So, then, is Perry going to get another rerun motion about Kerley’s depo? I missed all of that side bar thing. Mason didn’t have a clue about Kronk. Gee, wanna read any newspapers or read up on the case that you are having so much fun with you idiot? :dizzy:

  51. Suzie Jane on 21 June 2010 at 13:35

I cannot imagine why the defense would choose to change their approach on Equusearch now. Where are they going with this??

Maybe Mason is having a mental breakdown. He surely seems like one big fumbler in court. I thought he was such a hot shot? Never looks prepared and just acts really disjointed. Is he dumb like fox or is retirement knocking on his old door?

Also, I listened to that interview the A’s had with Ashley again. Seems odd how they specify they haven’t seen their grand daughter ALIVE since June 15th. Has any one seen her since in a deceased form? Moved the body perhaps?? Egads.

  52. Carol on 21 June 2010 at 13:49

Hi Suzie. Really. I guess old Leg Horn didn’t get the Okey Dokey from the ‘Captain Bozo May I’ game and couldn’t answer any questions today. “Kronk? Never heard of him.” Wow, at least pretend you have a clue of what is going on in the fricking case. Maybe read the whole case you joined. Just a guess of what a real lawyer would do. Idiot.

  53. Suzie Jane on 21 June 2010 at 14:01

“Captain Bozo May I” game. LMAO Carol. I wonder if that game involves buckets and balls at some point. Yuck, I have shake that image…..

I hope someone helped that doddering old child-killer-supporter Mason out to his car and hopefully drove him home. I think he may be losing his marbles. Why did he even bother showing up? I must say it is shameful and disgraceful that they are trying to impugn Kronk and get the 911 calls thrown out.

No honest person thinks Cindy’s call was anything but the epitome of an excited utterance. Is this how we attain justice? It’s all a game to get evidence thrown out so jurors can’t know the truth and know what really happened?? DISGUSTING. These defense idiots are making a nice place for themselves in hell. Is it ‘fun’ mason? Is it just so much fun for you right now? Sicko.

Is baez at that sex seminar?

  63. Suzie Jane on 21 June 2010 at 15:42

“Baez and the Sex Seminar” sounds like some kind of terrifying child’s bed time story.

Why is this idiot on the prowl? Maybe the rumors of divorce thanks to WF office shenanigans are true.

  64. Carol on 21 June 2010 at 15:43

Mason said after the hearing that they know Equa Search did search the woods in June but that he, (they, bozo and his pals) didn’t know when the body was placed there. WTH?! Hell, just ask Cindy! She’ll tell you! She sure wasn’t in Casey’s trunk anymore. Casey only drove Caylee around for two or three days, dead, that sick demented freak.

  75. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 17:01

Hi friends – I’ll change the subject so Carol doesn’t get sick.

I looked at the link that smoke put up regarding the latest wftv information on the Equussearch matter. If it is true that the defense is backing away from the allegation that the body was put there while Casey was in jail then I think two things must have happened.

First, and we know this happened, the searcher they were depending on was impeached by about seven other searchers, all of whom documented at the time that the area was underwater.

But I think they have also discovered that their own experts have determined that the roots and leaves and bugs all confirm that the body was left in mid-June. Defense lawyers never seem to consider that a large number of experts, particularly renowned ones in their field, are not willing to lie and destroy their own reputations for the sake of one client that their evidence shows is guilty.

So now, they have to pretend the area was never searched by Equusearch. I really don’t see how that benefits them. Any ideas?

  76. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 17:27

    Hi Everyone,

Caroly, that’s an excellent point about what their own experts may have told the defense about the environmental conditions at the discovery site. I also think they realized Atty. Nejame was not going to let them get their hands on copies of the 4,000+ searchers personal information in order to broaden their candidate pool of potential suspects.

Speaking of potential suspects, who would have had access to the Henkel Duct Tape; Winnie-the-Pooh Blanket; Whitney Laundry Bag, etc. that just happened to match items in the Anthony home? Well, let me think about that for a second……. JoJo & CeCe, no?

Of course, I don’t believe they had anything to do with Caylee’s death, but the Defense sure could make a case for reasonable doubt. JMO

  77. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 17:35

Atty. Mason should have listened to Kathi Belich during the after court hearing interview. She told him at least 3 times, Cindy’s co-workers heard her say “the car smelled like a dead body.”

Baez & Mason Depo’d Debbie Bennett. If you take a look at her transcript, she did not use the dead body language. However, Charles Crittenden (who was not depo’d by the defense) said Cindy did use the phrase. Here is an excerpt from his transcript:

    http://www.wftv.com/blank/18974314/detail.html

TRANSCRIPT OF TAPED INTERVIEW OF CHARLES CRITTENDEN
    24 NOVEMBER 2008

    SNIPPED

Q She say anything about the car when she got in it or ….

A Yes when… I recall when she got back… ‘cause a lot of us were standing right, right here by the front door when she walked in. And she made the statement about the smell in the car. She said it smelled like a dead body. And we told her then, you need to call the police.

Q Did she come in just say that or did she say anything else about it? Did she see anything in the car that maybe alarmed you guys?

A No she didn’t say she just said, it smelled like a dead body.

Q Did she say why she even came back to work?

A That’s what we said to her. We were like, you need to go home and take care of this. And she’s like, well you know I need to finish up some things and I’ll go home this evening. And you know she said she called Casey, I’m sorry. Called Casey and said, you know where are you we found the car blah, blah, blah.

Hi folks! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Smoke, I agree with you 100%. If the defense wants to establish reasonable doubt…which is all they have to do, blaming G&C would be more believable than blaming an imaginary Nanny or the long line of Casey’s ex-friends. Who had more access to all those items and Caylee? Why would G&C do so much to cover up if Casey is innocent…perhaps because they had something to do with it. I don’t believe G&C were involved, but that scenario makes more sense than anything else Baez has tossed out there.

Thanks for that link Smoke. Hi gig. So, everything with Mason is that black is white and white is black. “Cindy didn’t say that to her co workers”. Umm, hum. But the deops don’t matter either. Wow.

  84. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 17:59

    Hi Carol,

YW! All Mason knows is Cindy did not say that to Debbie Bennett (according to her transcript and the Defense Depo). He has not looked into this matter past his nose.

This case certainly does have its entertaining moments.

Smoke’s first link also says that the defense is also backing off the Roy Kronk reputation busting. I couldn’t believe that anyone would allow an ex-wife to testify about a ten year old duct tape episode. It is so irrelevant. Depending on the type of duct tape of course

  86. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 18:45

I was wrong about Atty. Mason not knowing Cindy said the car smelled like a dead body to other co-workers at Gentiva Health. Just found this posted by Atty. Richard Hornsby:

Defendant’s Reply To State’s Response Regarding Admissibility of 911 Calls

    http://www.richardhornsby.com/blog/uploads/2010/06/20100616-Defense-Reply-to-State-Motion-to-Admit-911-Calls.pdf

Well, I guess their point is, Cindy’s comment about the car smelling like a dead body was not spontaneous enough… she had several hours to think about what to say. What?! Oh Please… they are still missing the Prosecution’s point, IMO.

The State is not arguing that Cindy’s statement will be used to prove she knew Caylee was dead in the trunk of the car, but it does speak to her state of mind, in terms, of emotional distress/panic attack over learning from Casey that Caylee had been missing for a month! :w00t: While on the other hand, Casey responds to the 911 operator in a cool and monotone manner. B!tch… then proceeds to spew out the lie about ZFG kidnapping Caylee.

  87. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 19:00

From what I understood, the state’s argument for inclusion of the tapes was that finding out Caylee was missing for 31 days made Cindy call 911 in a panic – that was the excited utterance. The dead body in the car remark was also her putting two and two together – missing child, dead body smell. I see no way the defense can prevail here.

If they do, does George’s statement to police get included or is that hearsay too?

  88. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 19:02

The Casey comment I would really like to see played to a jury is the one where she calls Cindy from jail to get Tony’s phone number, argues with Cindy, argues with Lee and then argues with Christine. Christine starts crying and saying she’ll just die if anything has happened to Caylee and Casey goes bonkers claiming what a waste of time this call was.

  89. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 19:06

    Nah Caroly,

I think the Defense will come up with another argument to try to get George’s statement thrown out. But oh wait! He prolly testified at the Grand Jury Hearing on 14 OCT 08 that he smelled human decomp in the trunk of Casey’s car.

And What Judge presided over that hearing? Yeah, Chief Judge Belvin Perry. Not to mention the fact that what George said in GJ is a matter of court records.

  90. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 19:10

Smoke – I just went to your link for the Mason interview after the hearing. That man is so arrogant. He keeps saying that he doesn’t know about things from before he came on the case. I know I sure would not want my life to depend on a lawyer who volunteers to be part of one of the biggest media cases of all time but cannot be bothered to read up on the case, most of which was investigated before he joined the team.

That man may well be the death of her if they give him to much of a role.

  91. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 19:14

    Yeah Caroly,

That call was priceless! I find it interesting that Casey claimed she did not memorize Tony’s phone #, but she coughed up Ryan P’s phone # and gave it to Baez for purposes of recruiting him as a character witness.

Ryan told Baez he would answer all of his questions, but at the end of the day he really didn’t think it would help his case. Ouchy Ouchy!

Re strange links – I haven’t had any trouble with this site. However, while surfing for info on the vander sloot murders I got two messages in three days from Norton telling me there had been a high risk security attack on my computer. I have never had such a message before from them – or since (it was over week ago).

  93. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 19:17

    Caroly,

With 40 years of experience and Mason’s reputation as a top notch lawyer, I just don’t get it… What is he doing? Do you think he has learned somethings about the case, now that he is on the inside, that confirmed what he believed and stated in the media earlier on? What’s up with this guy?

  94. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 19:18

Speaking of phone numbers – I don’t remember any documentation of the police asking Casey what the phone numbers she had for Zanny were? Even if they were disconnected. She did say they were on her other phone at Universal but since she did not work at Universal that was a lie. She also said she had called her the same day her Mum picked her up and spoke to Caylee for a minute. I know they have checked every number she called on her cell and from the house. But I still find it strange that they did not ask her for the number.

  95. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 19:18

What belief are you asking about Smoke?

  96. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 19:21

I’m glad you saw the comment about the intrusive links. Glad you have not had a problem. Fortunately, I was able to quickly extinquish them when they popped up here. Sometimes they appeared on previous threads from months ago; then they attacked the O/T; Gap and other pages. So, I put the blog in LOCK DOWN to keep everyone safe.

  97. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 19:23

Hopefully, Humble will be back on-line soon!

  98. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 19:27

Thanks smoke for looking after the blog for us in Humble`s absence. You`re doing a great job.

What do you think Mr Mason might have found out as an insider and which of his beliefs might it support.

  99. smoke&mirrors on 21 June 2010 at 19:31

    TY Caroly,

I think Mr. Mason figured out that Casey is a psychopath and GUILTY of murdering Caylee. JMO

Let me go get the Atty. Mason quote for you that he made before joining Team Anthony. BRB

    Goodnight. See you all tomorrow.

Here is the link with Mason’s take on the case:

Have a good night. I’m not far behind on getting to

  102. caroly on 21 June 2010 at 19:35

Thanks smoke. I would love to read it. Please take your time. I have to go to bed but will definitely check the link tomorrow.

You are right. It makes no sense. If he joined the team he should do a good job or he will ruin his great reputation. If he feels now that he can no longer do that because of what he`s learned then he should resign for any reason he chooses to give. They already have their death penalty lawyer on board.
