Amir Jennings was last seen on Thanksgiving at his grandparents house in South Carolina. The grandparents last heard from Zinah Jennings, the mother, on 5 December 2011. The grandmother Jocelyn Jennings Nelson reported Amir and Jennings missing on 8 December when she had heard Jennings was in a car accident.
Zinah Jennings was in a single car accident on Christmas Eve. [Sounds like she can't drive] When police arrived, they ran her name through the national crime network and found out she was was reported missing. Jennings did NOT have Amir with her. She kept giving police misleading information, and even went as far as to say she didn’t have a son. She later told police her son was in Atlanta. Days later she gave police the name of a man who she said had Amir, but police officers determined the man does not exist. On 2 January she led investigators to an apartment complex where she said she had dropped off her son but could not remember the apartment number or its location within the complex. [SOUND familiar?]
The FBI has now joined in on the search for Amir. Zinha Jennings is in custody on a charge of cruelty to children. Her bond is set at $150,000.

Guess I was right about the drug issue. The mother was reportedly arrested for prostitution and drug pocession… I believe she either did something to him or sold him
