CSI Christine Narkiewicz, OCSO Forensic Unit – assisted with executing a search warrant on Casey Anthony for collected buccal and hair standards.
She arrived at the correctional facility on 21 July 2008 at 2144. She took the buccal with a swab on the inside of her right cheek. We saw the evidence she took from CMA.
She wore a mask and rubber gloves when she did the buccal and hair. The plastic tweezers did not work, so she pulled the hair out by hand, still wearing gloves.
Defense:
Baez must have read an article with pictures on DNA. He asked if the reason why she wore gloves and had on a mask and didn’t talk while taking the samples, is so there is no contamination of the evidence. She said yes….
CSI Geraldo Bloise is up next. He has been with the OCSO for 11 years! He has smelled decomp 30-45 times. He has also smelled different stages of decomp.
He received the car from Charity Beasley. The doors and trunk and hood were sealed.
The first thing he does it take pictures of the exterior of the car.
The next step is he takes pictures of the interior of the car. A=drier sheet B=dirty c=dry leaf in trunk

Examining the underneath of the car, he found 2 leafs, no dead animal parts.
We went through the packages and there were 12 different packages with hair in them.
Also in some of the packages was debris, and drier sheets, etc.
The large box was opened and it was the liner to the trunk, cut up. [Alot of sniffing going on in the courtroom]
There was a package with the swab from the tire cover, I would assume the spot.
He sure had a huge job tagging everything from that vehicle.
We observed the hair.
Defense:
First thing done was exterior examination. Yes
You will look at all the interior. You smelled decomposition, you were not sure if it was human.
It could be meats, animal, or human? Yes
You can smell various stages of decomposition? Yes
Maggots depends on the stage of the body. He is not an expert in maggots.
He knows the smell from a decomped body, and he know that is what he smelled and it is unique and you will never forget it. He used BlueStar which identifies blood. Negative on blood in the trunk.
He found 12 hairs by hand. First set was found 17 July 2008. He is experienced in trace recovery, which COULD include hair.
[more when I get back]
